The Consortium for the Promotion of Acqui Wines was formed in 1992 in Acqui Terme with the goal of controlling and regulating the cultivation of Brachetto and representing the interests of the territory of origin, Brachetto producers and the final consumer. The Consortium’s 60 members include growers, cooperative wineries and spumante producers.
In 1996, Brachetto d’Acqui obtained DOCG status, thanks to the Consortium’s leadership effort, which contributed to defining with greater precision, from a legal and administrative standpoint, the special characteristics of both the wine and the spumante, and thus elevating the standing of both categories.
Nowadays, the Consortium’s commitment to enhancing the value of its designation wines translates into attentive programming of production, promotional initiatives (aimed at increasing the visibility of a brand symbolic of Made in Italy excellence) and informational activities designed to promote awareness of the qualities of Brachetto and support sales in Italy and abroad.
